Plot Summary

Seventeen Magazine has everything a teenage girl could want.  Every issue contains beauty tips, celebrity gossip, a beautiful celebrity on the cover with an inside story, quizzes, horoscopes, letters from readers, and so much more.  Their website now also has lots of activities and fun information for teens.  Basically the same things offered in the magazine are offered online now.  Readers can also follow Seventeen Magazine on Facbook and Twitter.  Seventeen Magazine is great for talking a break between classes or reading on vacation.

Critical Evaluation

Seventeen Magazine is a fun magazine for teenage girls.  There is not expected to be any real issues covered in it.  Most of the content is somewhat frivolous (i.e. the quiz "Am I a Good Kisser?") but that doesn't make it less valuable.  Teenage girls need that frivolity in their lives.  Taking those quizzes with friends or looking at pictures of Robert Pattinson is almost a right of passage for teen girls.  The fashion aspect is great for those interested in clothes and there is also a section on health with workout tips and tips on eating healthy.  All of these things, and even the kissing quiz, make this a great magazine.

Just holding up the cover of this magazine will be enough to draw most girls in.  Many already know of Seventeen Magazine, but the best way to get kids reading it is to give them a copy.  Magazines are something that everyone just picks up and leafs through.  If the cover has something the reader likes on it (such as a celebrity) they're going to pick it up and read it.

Seventeen is somewhat superficial but other than that, the content is clean and appropriate for this age group.

Why Include This Title?

When thinking of magazines for this age group, Seventeen immediately popped into my mind.  It is one of the most well know magazines strictly for teenagers and one I myself read in my teen years.
